Why isn't homeopathy more popular?... Somebody with a Nose recently made the startling claim that:
"Homeopathy is today the most successful form of treatment for acute and chronic illness.....", and "To date there are at least 25,000 volumes of homeopathic cured cases. Conventional medicine hasn't successfully cured anything in the same time period."
If it's so successful, why is the UK health service withdrawing funding for it? If it works so well for "acute and chronic illness" why do the world's top hospitals ignore it?
Where can I see the "25,000 volumes of homeopathic cured cases" ? Is it true that in the same time period conventional medicine hasn't successfully cured ANYTHING?

Is there any hope that homeopathy can be used to treat mental illness?
So Nosey, no substantiation for these ridiculous claims then?
Thanks Sam but I'm concerned that its never been shown to work by anyone, ever. Do you think that could affect its popularity?
Answers
1) Mostly it is the" time" that takes more to cure. - krk
2) ahhh the infamous "plethora of evidence" made so famous by the British chiropractic society who were then unable to produce any of the evidence at the high court hearing to support their claim. - Nitram
3) More popular than what? Conventional medicine? It's the competition, allopathic medicine that's essentially being run by the drug companies. There's too much money at stake. So conventional medical schools are not teaching homeopathy. That's why.
In India, almost all doctors are trained in both. Over 60% of people in France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, and others, routinely use homeopathy.
The U.K. is NOT withdrawing funding from the NHS. People won't stand for it and it's guaranteed by the charter.
More hospitals are going integrative and you'll see even more of it in the near future, especially in the U.S. and Canada. Plastic surgeons routinely use homeopathic remedies like Arnica and Hypericum to reduce swelling and pain.
Homeopathy still rates as the second largest modality of treatment used worldwide.
I'd say that's pretty "popular". - thenoseknows
4) Because of the conspiracy. Basically big Pharma find the time to trawl backwater internet forums and place people like me to post answers rubbishing Homeopathy. They also pay other people to post silly answers in support of homeopathy so that people laugh at them and don't take it seriously. (not thunder but....)
@Nosey.. I think you'll find that your precious homeopathic hospitals are losing funding in that referals will no longer be paid for to London and Edinburgh - Angelhil
5) This is what think:
It's all about the money, homeopathy is cheap and effective, it would take away the business from the modern conventional medicine groups. Also homeopathy has little or no side effects further loss to big business medicine. Cancer treatment is another huge money maker, while natural med. is far more effective and the cost is pennies to remedy. They have made those treatments illegal by claiming it contains poison,,. well duhhh! Just about ever med. produced in big drug company seem to have a warning label "This drug could kill you" but they can get away with it because they have the law makers in their back pocket!! - Sam
6) Nosey frequently makes these ridiculous claims, but never substantiates her claims with evidence Instead, we are presented with a long line of fallacious excuses.
"More popular than what? Conventional medicine? It's the competition, allopathic medicine that's essentially being run by the drug companies. There's too much money at stake. So conventional medical schools are not teaching homeopathy. That's why."
Er...no. Medical schools do not teach homeopathy because it does not work. It lacks scientific plausibility and it's never worked beyond placebo in any high quality trial. Why would medical schools train Doctors in activites that don't work and contradict everything we know about science? Alt.Med represents a multi-billion dollar industry, yet despite this, the alties do not seem to understand the basic principles of business: If homeopathy worked, Pharma would love to deal with it, they could churn it out at little cost and make almost infinite profits. The NHS is a publicly funded health care system, if magic water worked, it would save the tax payer billions.
"In India, almost all doctors are trained in both. "
A third world, poor, backward country. Explain why most of the developed countries don't favor homeopathy.
"Over 60% of people in France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, and others, routinely use homeopathy."
Popularity does not demonstrate efficacy. This means nothing. And evidence for this statistic please.
"The U.K. is NOT withdrawing funding from the NHS. People won't stand for it and it's guaranteed by the charter."
There were 5 homeopathic clinics in the UK, now only 4 remain and gradually more and more trusts are refusing funding for Homeopathy. Please explain why the majority of our hospitals ignore Homeopathy if it is so effective?
"Plastic surgeons routinely use homeopathic remedies like Arnica and Hypericum to reduce swelling and pain."
Really? My father is a plastic surgeon and has never used such "remedies". Evidence for this claim please. Note, Arnica isn't homeopathic unless it's in homeopathic preparation.
Finally, as has already been requested, please provide evidence that, "Homeopathy is today the most successful form of treatment for acute and chronic illness.....", and "To date there are at least 25,000 volumes of homeopathic cured cases." WHERE? - Rhianna does Medicine Year 1

Question 2
What are some natural remedies for sleep insomnia?... What are some natural remedies for sleep insomnia? I'm trying not to become too reliant on my sleeping pills but things aren't looking very well. I'm going on day 5 day now with very little rest.
Answers
1) I'm sure you've heard all the 'experts' giving sleep advice: turn off the tv before bedtime, no physical activity (gym) in early evening hours... warm milk, hot bath, etc.. you can try melatonin which is a natural hormone (health food stores carry it). We all have melatonin in our system, but the strength of it starts to decrease by the time we're 30, which is why it's harder for adults to sleep... teens and younger kids have a ton of melatonin in their brains!
Good Luck. - Shptludrop
2) You can also try "Sleep Well". It contains Semen Ziziphi Spinosae. Semen Ziziphi Spinosae is a natural Chinese herb that soothes the nerves, calm your mind and helps you sleep. It is safe and reliable. It does not have adverse side effects and will not cause dependence.
You just need to dissolve 2 packs of granules in 200ml of hot water and stir well before consuming.

3) yogurt is good, the sourer the better. you can dissolve some sour yogurt in cool water, add some salt and dried mint leaves. this drink is called Doogh, and it is very soothing. Add some ice.
Oxtongue flower tea is very calming, but I don't know if you can find some.
you can eat some coriander or coriander seeds. cook some fresh fish like this, the fish should have some fat, no fat fish like tuna is not good and I don't know about the fish you can obtain in your area: cut the fish open from the back, not the stomach, clean its inside, add some sea salt and let it be for a while (quarter an hour) take an onion and some garlic, cut them into fine pieces or grind then by a food processor. get some coriander, clean and wash it, cut it into fine pieces (you can use food processor again), mix it with onion and garlic, add pepper and spices as you wish, but don't use too much pepper and spice. use some tamarind syrup for a sweet-sour taste, if not available you can use Sour Orange juice or lemon juice, but tamarind syrup is recommended.
lay the fish flat on oven tray, insides upward. put the mixture in a half centimeter layer on the fish meat all over it. pre heat the oven at 240C. Cook for 15-20 minutes until vegetables are cooked. Eat hot with white rice.
Fatty fish and coriander with garlic, makes me and every one I know to sleep at the table!
more important than what you take, is what u shouldn't: No black or green tea, no coffee (unless decaf), no chocolate or cacao of any sort, no tobacco (smoked or chewed), no alcohol, no Cola drinks (they have caffeine), stay away from sugar and sweet foods. - lind_bookworm
4) about it you can get information from here http://canmdh25.notlong.com/AAHutBh - Tonita Sasao
5) You should use zolpidem, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://usmedans30.notlong.com/3AAHutB - Madelaine Zall

I don't give up so I was looking for someplace online where I could still find myself a bargain... and by accident I came across this site I never heard of before where you get rock bottom prices from police impounded stuff, I mean I was worried about scams but this stuff is actually real and I got some real cheap stuff there... it's become my new eBay lol! Question 4
What happens if you're filled with more blood than your body is supposed to hold?... If I had the normal amount of blood in my system (like I do now) to be able to function normally, and then a person forced blood into my system, causing me to have an excess amount of blood in my system.
What would happen? Would my veins explode due to so much pressure, and then I would bleed to death from the inside?
Answers
1) I think the human body can handle about 10 psi before it explodes - Sasha Puchinsky
2) High blood pressure i think and no you would not explode for sure. - Christine Keller
3) Our body has compensatory mechanisms to control what is called "fluid overload." The veins don't explode- they are actually very stretchy. But they will get bigger and blood will leak out from the veins. First, the kidneys respond by filtering out as much water as possible. This means you would start peeing a lot more than usual. If there is still too much fluid in the body, it will shift out of the veins and into the surrounding tissues. You would notice swelling in your feet, ankles, hands, and face. If the fluid problem was not corrected, fluid will build up in the abdomen and your belly will swell. What will eventually kill you is when blood backs up into the lungs because there is no where else for it to go. It's like being underwater because your lungs can't exchange air anymore. - Nurse Ashlina
4) when you have extra neutreints or (blood which have neutrients) in your body some of it is stored as fat and the rest come out as waste - kc
5) Actually, some athletes have done what's called "blood doping" (transfusing their own blood and storing it for a later time close to a competition and then having it transfused back into their own body again).
It's not possible for your body to make more blood than it has unless some is removed first.
If it was possible, you'd probably have a heart attack before anything else happened. Arteries are very elastic. - thenoseknows

Question 5
What health issues relate to alternative and complementary health services?... For example - there's no evidence of them being effective.
What else?
Answers
1) 1. Practitioners of alt med are typically science-illiterate or have educations that come from unaccredited diploma mill schools.
2. They can keep persons who are ill from getting the correct kind of medical help. Delay of medical care can be fatal.
edit: I'd like to address an issue brought up by our resident clown Know the Cause. Modern medicine is expensive not because there's a conspiracy to keep people sick. It is expensive because it's expensive to do research for new drugs and surgeries and diagnostic tests. It's not because of the medical practitioners like doctors and dentists, etc. If alties want to blame someone or something for the high cost of medical care, they should blame the capitalist system. As for me, I don't like it that medical care is expensive but I have no choice. If I had the power to change it I would. Also, alternative medicine is sure as hell not the answer to high costs of care. - angrydoc
2) What doc said. I'll add they con you from your money by peddling their useless treatments for which there is not a jot of evidence. So you end up not only less healthy but also much poorer. - Nitram
3) Delay in treatment can prevent or delay correct treatment.
Most are unqualified and uneducated to diagnose correctly.
Most pretend to be doctors using terms such as 'Doctor of Naturopathy' which is an unrecognised term. The illusion is completed with a white coat meaning the lay person has no idea they're being treated by a fake doctor.
It gives false hope to terminally ill patients and their families, relieving them of their money in their dying days.
'Medical advice' is frequently incorrect.
There is the promotion of quack 'treatments' that have no benefits whatsoever.
Deliberate false diagnosis (such as the no-symptoms candida for example) allows similarly fake treatments to be prescribed and then the announcement of fake 'cures' to be made. This reinforces in the innocent customers mind that the practitioner is effective, allowing them to be open to further fake diagnosis and treatments, thus perpetuating the income stream. - dave
4) What a bunch of HOGWASH from these skeptics. With a little common sense you can see right through em. Talking about coning people out of their money. How does a $750,000 heart transplant sound. Tell that to the poor elderly that don't even have enough to eat because of their high cost of prescription drugs that only keep them in a perpetual state of sickness, And the only reason these meds and operations are so high is because you money hungry idiots know that they'll pay it to keep em alive and you're toxins flowing Thur their bodies because you say only drugs can cure disease. What a bunch of HIPPOCRATES you are. You people make me so sick it ain't funny. Why is it that doctors have only a few hours of preventive medicine training. I'll tell you why! Because the "BIG PHARMA" pays for most of your education and they tell them in so many words "IT'S NOT PROFITABLE! Keep em sick and we'll all be rich! I can't understand how someone with half a brain can believe that unnatural toxins in the body is better than natural. Mainstream meds are o.k. when things have gotten too far and you need relief. BUT THAT'S ALL! Bunch of smart @$$e$.
Edit: And you know what else makes me sick. Creating additional accounts on here so that they can answer their own questions and then congratulate each other on being GODS. MAKES ME SICK. - Know the Cause
5) The notion that there's no evidence of them being effective is a total fabrication.
The same health issues that arise in the allopathic sick care system are dealth with by holistic medicine as prevention and the healing of the whole person, not just the suppression of individual symptoms.
80% of conventional medicine is not evidence based. For skeppies to make silly claims about other forms of medicine is a strange obsession not borne out by facts.
Edit: Most people who use holistic medicine are better educated than those who blindly run to MD's every time they get a cold. They're also educated enough to check the credentials of the practitioners they go to, or deny the ambulance trip to an emergency room if they're in a car accident... so someone's funny little mission statement about delayed treatment etc. is quite a crock. And someone with a chronic illness like fibromyalgia is not going to have a life threatening event at their Homeopath's unless they have a heart attack relating how peeved they are at conventional medicine.
Pharma drugs mostly don't save lives, they make people's quality of life miserable and just lead to more drug use to address the negative side effects of the first toxic junk they took.
Your family MD is just prescribing whatever for you based on practise directives that are now dictated by the drug companies. MD's who do think for themselves get out of conventional medicine and become Naturopaths and Homeopaths. - thenoseknows
