Are kidneys below the rib cage?...  Where are the kidneys located? Are they below the rib cage? I feel pain (this is 6th day) on my left side back ribs... i hope it's not the kidneys

3)   In humans, the kidneys are two small organs located near the vertebral column at the small of the back. The left kidney lies a little higher than the right kidney. They are bean-shaped, about 4 in. (10 cm) long and about 21/2 in. (6.4 cm) wide. The kidneys are behind the bottom ribs in the back. The lower half of each kidney is unprotected by the ribs. The ribs are on either side of the spine (in the back), between the intestines in the front and the muscles of the lower back. The bottoms of the kidneys are above the level of the navel.

Kidney stones can be painful. As the right kidney lies slightly higher than the left, so it could be a stone, but even small stones are extremely painful. Try moving in different positions. If you find a certain position reduces the pain, it may very well be a stone. Contact your doctor. Drinking fluids is extremely important to help pass the stone. - norbor

4)   Yes. You should tell your PCP or GP, and ask her/him to do an ultrasound to check for stones.

In the mean time, the most important thing you should do is drink A LOT of water (this will flush the stones out). Also drink aloe vera juice (if you have stones it will break them down). Try to get some liquid magnesium, or the Natural Calm powdered magnesium.

4)   An anatomy book and an atlas. If you're still in school, your biology courses would have anatomy where you get to dissect and study cats and sharks and frogs. If you're serious about anatomy, you can go to medical school where you get to dissect a real human cadaver. - angrydoc

Question about Ambiens?...  Does anyone trip out crazy or say funny stuff and not remember when taking ambiens? (sleeping medicine) Like almost like theres a drop of acid in it?
