What are some negative affects of weed?... I've been smoking 3-5 times a day for the past two years. I haven't had a problem...I can stop whenever... I go to class high because I think more creatively and quickly. When I wake up with a terrible hangover I get high and its literally gone and I feel awesome. I don't have trouble breathing and I've never felt pain or sick since I've been smoking
So what the the hell are some negative affects?
Answers
1) Memory loss, but its not really so bad. - Adair
2) As with all drugs, marijuana affects different people differently. Some people experience severe lethargy, unhealthily large appetites, a loss of concentration or thinking ability, or a loss of motor skills or hand-eye coordination. Others (such as yourself, it would seem) experience little to no negative side effects. - ScienceFrog
3) While marijuana doesn't have many of the harmful chemicals cigarettes do, smoke of any kind isn't good for your lungs. You increase the chance of having related conditions like asthma and, eventually, cancer. Invest in a vaporizer: there's a great high, no smoke, no marijuana smell and literally no negative affects in terms of health. - Mr Hypothetical
4) addiction. you say the same thing everybody says who have an addiction, (maybe that hangover is a side effect) brain damage, lung cancer. destroying the lining and internal aspects of the lungs so when you get older you wont be able to breath. does any of this sound familiar from health class. - Colby
5) Nothing. Ive been smoking 8 years and feel the same way. Studies show that it does not cause lung cancer or emphysema. Nobody in the government will stand up for it's legalzation because it would hurt their careers. - e46Fanatic
6) Warning: Side effects of of consumption of weed include ( but not limited to):
Loss of friends, loss of family respect, absence of mind during critical times, loss of motor skills, loss of opportunity to become employed, scabies, ADHD, erectile dysfunction, and sudden death - Surpheal
7) ummm idk................. maybe the fact that its killing you and possibly you can kill others around you.
here are just SOME of the effects of weed. i guarantee that you will experience at least 5 of them sooner or later.
Short-Term Effects
The short-term effects of marijuana include:
•Distorted perception (sights, sounds, time, touch)
•Problems with memory and learning
•Loss of coordination
•Trouble with thinking and problem-solving
•Increased heart rate, reduced blood pressure
Sometimes marijuana use can also produce anxiety, fear, distrust, or panic.
Effects on the Brain
The active ingredient in marijuana, delta-9 tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, acts on cannabinoid receptors on nerve cells and influences the activity of those cells. Some brain areas have many cannabinoid receptors, but other areas of the brain have few or none at all. Many cannabinoid receptors are found in the parts of the brain that influence pleasure, memory, thought, concentration, sensory and time perception, and coordinated movement.
When high doses of marijuana are used, usually when eaten in food rather than smoked, users can experience the following symptoms:
•Hallucinations
•Delusions
•Impaired memory
•Disorientation
Effects on the Heart
Within a few minutes after smoking marijuana, the heart begins beating more rapidly and the blood pressure drops. Marijuana can cause the heart beat to increase by 20 to 50 beats per minute, and can increase even more if other drugs are used at the same time.
Because of the lower blood pressure and higher heart rate, researchers found that users' risk for a heart attack is four times higher within the first hour after smoking marijuana, compared to their general risk of heart attack when not smoking.
Effects on the Lungs
Smoking marijuana, even infrequently, can cause burning and stinging of the mouth and throat, and cause heavy coughing. Scientists have found that regular marijuana smokers can experience the same respiratory problems as tobacco smokers do, including:
•Daily cough and phlegm production
•More frequent acute chest illnesses
•Increased risk of lung infections
•Obstructed airways
Most marijuana smokers consume a lot less cannabis than cigarette smokers consume tobacco, however the harmful effects of smoking marijuana should not be ignored. Marijuana contains more carcinogenic hydrocarbons than tobacco smoke and because marijuana smokers typically inhale deeper and hold the smoke in their lungs longer than tobacco smokers, their lungs are exposed to those carcinogenic properties longer, when smoking.
What About Cancer?
Although one study found that marijuana smokers were three times more likely to develop cancer of the head or neck than non-smokers, that study could not be confirmed by further analysis.
Because marijuana smoke contains three times the amount of tar found in tobacco smoke and 50 percent more carcinogens, it would seem logical to deduce that there is an increased risk of lung cancer for marijuana smokers. However, researchers have not been able to definitively prove such a link because their studies have not been able to adjust for tobacco smoking and other factors that might also increase the risk.
Studies linking marijuana smoking to lung cancer have also been limited by selection bias and small sample size. For example, the participants in those studies may have been too young to have developed lung cancer yet. Even though researchers have yet to "prove" a link between smoking pot and lung cancer, regular smokers may want to consider the risk.
Other Health Effects
Research indicates that THC impairs the body's immune system from fighting disease, which can cause a wide variety of health problems. One study found that marijuana actually inhibited the disease-preventing actions of key immune cells. Another study found that THC increased the risk of developing bacterial infections and tumors.
sorry if this sounds mean, but i think people who smoke regardless of what it is they smoke are very selfish people. - Peaceloveboys

Question 2
Is it really impossible to overdose on marijuana? Why?... A lot of my pot smoking friends say they stay away from all other drugs because it is literally physically impossible to overdose on marijuana. Is there science behind this?
Answers
1) "No. There has never been a documented case of marijuana overdose. - Anthelia M
2) You CAN overdose on marijuana, If you smoke your entire body weight in weed which would cost a freak load! But no i dont think you can overdose just by smoking recreationally
ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ - Phillis
3) There is absolutely no way to overdose on marijuana. Its like saying overdosing on cigarettes. You cant kill yourself by smoking.
You'll just get really f*cked up ! - Kimberly
4) just check out the deathrate from drugs, both alcohol and tobacco kills so many people, as opposed to marijuana. Although, I do not condone using marijuana, it is much safer than doing any other drugs. - tiger korps
5) Intoxicated people will say anything. Smoking can cause serious illness. The drug component of mary jane can make a person unintelligent, lazy and even contribute to psycho-like bad judgment. It might be hard to overdose but I don't think it is impossible. Take it real easy on this stuff as being intoxicated interferes with everything else. - goodellaa
6) The level at which THC becomes toxic and potentially dangerous is extremely high compared to other substances like alcohol, cocaine, or heroin, which you can easily overdose on. The amount of marijuana you would need to smoke in one sitting in order to O.D is astronomical, and you would simply fall asleep long before that happened. There isn't a single documented case of a marijuana overdose, yet 500,000 people die each year from alcohol related illness....go figure. - Ars Moriendi
7) The people who are saying that you can not overdose smoking marijuana are correct. The amount of TCH that you need to kill you can not be smoked. However, it is still has risks. A lot of the illnesses associated with cigarette smoking can also be caused by marijuana smoking. Both of them are plants, when you burn plants and but the smoke in your lungs, stuff builds up -- bad stuff. Spend your money on something that will not get you put in jail. Or spend it on week -- totally up to you. It sounds like there is some peer pressure going on here. If you have any doubts, get on YouTube and look up that 70's show and watch some clips with Leo. Real people are like that too when they smoke pot, recreationally. But it will not kill you by overdose. - Jackie Koll

Question 3
What would you need to do to become a well educated and good Chiropractor?... What are the steps, and what must you know/do. Please be detailed and thorough, I'm really interested in becoming one possibly. Also, what can I do for now to learn more and help get me there that much quicker? Thank you to all who answer.
Also, what would be the estimated pay? And the time to become one?

1) Here's a fantastic article about good chiropractic practice by a chiropractor named Sam Homola. Please read it - I hope it will give you some good direction while you're considering your career options.

2) You need to be prone to magical thinking, lack ethics and have a total disregard of science.

EDIT: Mr E said "understand that most illness is the result of nerve interference". This is completely bogus chiropractic concept, it rejects germ theory! However if I'm wrong, I'm sure Mr E will provide his robust, peer reviewed, scientific evidence that confirms so........ - Gary Y
3) A "well educated and good chiropractor"? That seems to be a bit of an oxymoron.
Read a review of chiropractic schools at Chirobase.org, a non-profit website on the subject.
A local vo-tech college churns out chiropractors and it has among the worst student loan default rates in the country. That would seem to be some indication of the success rate. Many chiropractors leave the business because they can make more elsewhere and without the deception involved. In this area a "doctor of chiropractic" uses the letters D.C. after their name. This has jokingly come to mean either "Dumb Chiropractor" or Damned Chiropractor". You may be better off becoming a licensed massage therapist LMT. - Derek
4) understand that most illness is the result of nerve interference. once you realize this fact, you will also recognize the stupidity and futility of most of conventional medicine. there are, of course, formal educational requirements beyond this, much which, although mostly useless toward getting sick well, is required nonetheless, much like most of medical school. what distinguishes genuine chiropractic, and brings health restoring results medicine can only dream of, is it's ability to actually correct the cause of nerve interference. sadly many so-called "chiropractic" institutions fail to teach, certainly in any thorough manner, the means to do this, so the student must seek this information out of old chiropractic texts and from experienced upper cervical doctors. i recommend studying dr.b.j. palmer's green books, learning applied kinesiology, practicing basics like leg length checks and interpretation, prill tests, etc..get yourself a touch for health chart and memorize muscle-nerve level relationships. once you have acquired the knowledge skills needed to assess and correct the upper cervical spine, you will succeed in getting sick well like nothing else can (while simultaneously often making medical doctors look like bungling fools by comparison). - Mr E
5) The biggest prerequisite to becoming a chiropractor,is the ability to be deceitful, and not let it bother you in any way, The chiropractors that stay in this "profession" are the ones who have mastered the art of scamming. Please read this article and and then tell us how could anyone be proud to be associated with this kind of of a "profession"?? You might as well train to be a pick pocket! http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/28731977/detail.html - massage therapist
