WHAT ANTI-DEPRESSANT SHOULD I TAKE?

Question 1
WHAT ANTI-DEPRESSANT SHOULD I TAKE?...  please read this if you think you can help me. sorry its so long <3

i am going to see a doctor because i am positive that im depressed, im 16.
my depression comes and goes tho (more like Seasonal but im not sure) and it negatively affects my behavior and my functioning.
i cant fight it on my own because if i do i just tire myself out. i get enough sleep, water, food, exercize btw.
i would like some suggestions from anyone who knows alot about anti-depressants before i see my doctor so i know what medications to stay away from. i want to try antidepressants.

this is what i do/don't want:

- i hear that anti-depressants may cause weight gain. I dont want this.
- i sometimes drink a little at parties, cant be helped. so i dont want medications that react with this
- i dont want medications that make me sleepier/calmer. my depression is making me more withdrawn and not myself, so i just want to take something that will help me be outgoing and fun and energetic again.
- maybe not an anti-depressant but something that deceases stress, because i find my depression to be triggered by stress.
- i dont want anything too strong. i used to be always depressed as a kid because i didnt have alot of support and "love". anyways im not always depressed now. i can go as long as three months without being depressed. and then suddenly it comes back for a week to a few months. and i cant help myself..

anyways any suggestions? more info below THANK YOU!!!! <3

- i wake up every day at 5 o clock for no reason. i NEVER wake up earlier by myself, i always oversleep
- i have been feeling very fatigued
- i dont care about anything anymore, im not motivated
- i usually have lots of cool ideas but now im empty
- i am usually energetic bubbly and happy but now i am laidback withdrawn and anxious/depressed
- i find everything to be 10 times harder. sitting up straight, having a conversation, doing my schoolwork
- i find myself to be in a negative mood and i cant help it. during the odd day that i get out of my depression i see things so differently, in the right perspective.
- my thinking is very unclear and my concentration is very poor
- i am exhausted and i do things very slowly
- at the same time sometimes i cant sit still and my barely there adhd shows up
- i cant do the things that i used to do before. my social skills are very affected.
- this doesnt feel normal. if it was normal i would know. this isnt just being sad. ther is no reason for it. and it affects me alot.
- people have noticed that i have been acting "out of it" or "shy" or "sad"

1)   Extacsy. - Sophie Lincoln

2)   you take the ones your doctor suggests and tell them how they are working, but you have to give them atleast a month. - Dave

3)   Zoloft. Helped me with depression. And I actually LOST weight on it. Not gained. - Noelle Catherine

4)   There are black box warnings on all anti depressants about a certain side effect - increases the risk of suicide. I know paxil increases the risk of suicide by 7 times. O_o. How these drugs are on the market to be handed out like candy is criminal. Trials also show that anti depressants are as effective as taking a sugar pill (placebo). Basically, the drugs don't work >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2Sd73DQ2J0&feature=related

This video is from Dr Mark Hyman and it is worth watching..he states it like it is...you don't have a drug deficiency. >>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOEFz9EWAEk

Low serotonin is the reason for depression.

The following factors can cause low serotonin levels:

* Alcohol
* Artificial sweeteners (aspartame)
* Caffeine
* Cigarette Smoking
* Diabetes
* Dietary deficiencies of nutrient co-factors
* Ecstasy, Diet Pills, and certain medications
* Genetic Predisposition
* Hormone Imbalances (thyroid, adrenal, estrogen)
* Hypoglycemia
* Insulin Resistance
* Inflammation
* Infections
* Poor Diet
* Lack of exercise
* Lack of sunlight
* Problems converting tryptophan to Serotonin
* Problems with Digestion
* Stress and Anger
* High Cortisol Levels

5)   Zoloft is really good. I have been taking it for 4 months and it has helped me with anxiety and depression. I am 20 years old and 5"7 and weighted 118 and actually gained about 5lbs, but it wasn't bad. All the side effects for anti depressants are going to be the same, it just depends how you react depending on the person. Also you can only drink about 2 or 3 drinks on anti depressants or else you will get sick :( Unfortunately
But this medicine works wonders! After two weeks you will start to feel more outgoing and happy, and I feel like I have so much more energy to do things that I used to think were just a hastle, or things I didn't feel like doing.
Good luck :) - Katie

6)   I had every single of those things that you have mentioned in your last paragraph except getting up at 5. I always woke up late (because I found it difficult to sleep).

In my opinion, no anti-depressant is good. I took one for about a month (a very low dosage) and felt suicidal within a month for no reason. What's more that didn't go away even after stopping the medicine.

By the way, I am around 90% out of all those problems (including social behavior etc).

I have some natural stuff here that helps with depression:
1. Omega 3 fatty acids. Get cod liver oil capsules. Take about 1-3gm everyday. Search for a good brand.
2. Investigate a supplement called SAMe.
3. There's a herb called St. John's wort. Read up on it.

You say your sleep, exercise, water intake, food is all right. For me, those weren't. I fixed them and found some improvement.

4. Try meditation. If that sounds like something reserved for others and not you, read up on brainwave entrainment and google for 'project meditation' and see if you can try that out.
5. Yoga! Get a good stretching and breathing program. You'll be amazed at what a good Yoga program can do for you.

I hope you come out of this. All the best.

Question 2
What's Wrong With Me? What Should I Do?...  I really need help.
Lately I've been really sad. I moved to China with my family and I miss my best friends.
I don't know what to do.
Recently I started using pins, razors, and sharp stuff to make marks on my arms. Is this normal?!
I'm always worried about my weight and how I look. I'm really insecure.
The other day I got really mad and started cutting my arms really bad.
I never feel like eating anymore.
I always feel sick. And I'm never in a good mood, I'm always biting everyone's heads off.
I don't know what's wrong with me.
Help? Please?
I live in China.
So don't tell me to go to counseling. We don't have that where I live.
And don't start saying i'm stupid or emo cause I cut.
I have tons of friends here.
I speak chinese and stuff.
I shouldn't feel lonely.
But I do.
And my parents are strict about everything.
They barely allow be to go out anymore.

Answers
1)   You are exhibiting symptoms that are generally associated with mental illness. I will not venture a guess as to which one, as I don't have enough information about your daily experiences and behaviors to offer a diagnosis. - Harvester of Sorrow

2)   u should stop this immediately ... try going to outdoor activities ... find new friends there ... don't stay inside ur house alone ... get out until u want to sleep ... get back home sleep and go out ... there r many things u can do for sure ... just don't do this to urself ... ur life deserves that u give it a chance ... - The Be$t of the Re$t

3)   It's quite normal to feel like this, and it will take time depending on how strong you are to feel better about the change. You're going to have to put those issues that upset you behind you. The truth is that no one needs a counsellor, It is only you that can help yourself. The best thing you can do is be strong, as obviously, cutting yourself and getting upset about it isn't helping.
Think of all the positive things you can do to cheer yourself up. I'm sure your family moved there for good reasons, and you should think about why they moved there to help YOU rather than complain you're not happy about it. That would make them feel terrible and TRUST me, if anything happens to anyone in your family, you'll think you were an idiot for doing all this to yourself. If you think about it, you're wasting your time acting like that, it's not like you'll never get back to where you used to live ever again! you can still go and see the people you miss, or they can come and see you. Remember that everything happens for a reason and there's so many lovely things that will happen to you if you keep strong and show your family you're not weak anymore. I promise!
So, don't waste your time cutting yourself and harming your body and mind. There's people in the world who suffer so much, lose family members from hunger, disease, there's people who don't even have a place to live!! and besides, China sounds awesome! I've always wanted to go there. You're very lucky you even have a family, My family in the country i live in at the moment absolutely hates me because they hate my mum (fathers family) and my mum's family that do love us live in Florida, and that's really far from where I live, so I don't really have family here. I wish I did, but I keep strong, study, and take my mind off it. I think to myself that one day, I'll be able to go visit them whenever I like, however it's not about me, this is about you.
I wish you good luck and I hope that you'll be so strong and motivated that you'll never need a stupid counselor to reassure you about things you already know how to sort out in yourself. Hope you have a wonderful life in China :D x - Brackethead

4)   You need to tell your parents how you feel and fess up about cutting yourself. This is absolutely not normal, and I'm sure you realize it. You need professional help to overcome this bad period in your life. Hiding your feelings and actions won't lead to a positive outcome. - thenoseknows

5)   you need a psychological counseling or homeopathic treatment you meet any psychiatrist or any homeopathic physician . i am sure you live and enjoy your life again. - Abhay Kumar

6)   Oh my God. You said that you have tons of friends.
I am afraid your conception about "Friend" is wrong. Today friendship is a joint venture terminating when a selfish end is achieved.
Therefore, please read my advice carefully. There will be few to advice you correctly. Many may come out to pass wild comments but those will not work.
Your problem now, is too much of Family restrictions and lack of freedom.
It is like Water Water every where but not a drop to drink. You have tons of friends but no TRUE FRIEND IN NEED and a FRIEND INDEED.
Since you cannot go out, try to listen to little soothing music -NOT JAZZ which hits the nerves.
Read good Books on Spirituality
If you can , try playing any Sport
Start singing Songs or play some music and stay busy with something
If possible, visit a Church/Temple and spend long hours there.
Start practicing Meditation by concentrating on anything you like.
Start writing Stories yourself - your days before migrating to China , compare China with other places , its cultural aspect etc.
Drink plenty of Water say 3000-4000 ml while you are awake.
All the knives, scissors, pins etc. that you handle to hurt yourself are used when you are alone and in solitude . Try to keep yourself in the company of your family members and keep talking to them on various subjects . Your parents are scared that if you go out alone, you may harm yourself.

TAKE A RESOLUTION JUST NOW THAT " I AM NOT MAD. I KNOW HOW TO LIVE HAPPILY. I WILL BEHAVE JUST LIKE A NORMAL PERSON . I WILL NEVER HARM MYSELF OR CAUSE ANY HARM TO ANYBODY DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.

Just understand how unhappy your beloved parents are because of your childish deeds.

Please make your parents Happy and make them proud to have a child like you.

Yes you can and you will.

BEST OF LUCK - PARTHA R

Question 4
what are the altranet treatments for epilepsy?...

Answers
1)   Carnivore meat diet. It's true. Eat eggs, steak, and plenty fat. - GedTaker

2)   Homeopathy. - thenoseknows

3)   homeopathic treatment - Abhay Kumar

4)   hi ii.. i hope this information may help you

The majority of epileptic seizures are controlled through drug therapy, particularly drugs. The type of treatment prescribed will depend on several factors including the frequency and severity of the seizures as well as the person's age, overall health, and medical history. An accurate diagnosis of the type of epilepsy is also critical to choosing the best treatment.

Drug Therapy

Many drugs are available to treat epilepsy, several of which have only recently been released.

Older, classic medications used to treat epilepsy include:

Dilantin or Phenytek
Phenobarbital
Tegretol or Carbatrol
Mysoline
Zarontin
Depakene
Depakote, Depakote ER
Valium and similar tranquilizers such as Tranxene and Klonopin
Newer drugs to treat epilepsy include:

Felbatol
Gabitril
Keppra
Lamictal
Lyrica
Neurontin
Topamax
Trileptal
Zonegran

In general, for a given type of epilepsy there are only minor differences among appropriate drugs. The choice is most often based on other factors specific to each patient, such as which side effects can be tolerated by the patient, other illnesses they may have, and which delivery method is acceptable.

Although the different types of epilepsy vary greatly, in general, medications can control seizures in about 70% of patients. - syidaa

5)   Epilepsy is sometimes because of suppressing some 'paranormal' information, of course it's not paranormal, it's just normal, but it could sound weird to the 'ignorant'.

This is not my info, but I can see that could be true.

I am however sure that it is about digestion.
Could be digestion of food, digestion of info, digestion of emotions, ... name it.
In that sense, the first info could be quite interesting.

Apart from that, I give you some practical info.
A simple Jin Shin Jyutsu hold you can use to open
the 'body' for this energy to pass is :
somewhat cross your arms, with one hand you hold the opposite upper arm somewhere in the middle, with the other hand you hold the inner leg, about a handwidth above the knee.
You can just do this hold, both sides.
You can examine the whole upper arm and upper leg for tense parts.
You feel with your mind, not with physical pressing.
In that way you can go much deeper, eventually it will take time and practise, but that time and practise thing is not necessarily true.
Just observe the things that happen.
About 20 minutes per session, 3 times a day. Be diligent and don't expect things.
That's what I would do in your case, for 21 days at least.
If that wouldn't work, I would go and see for a good acupuncturist, or see a practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu, a good Cranio-sacral therapist, to open up the area. But of course it's good if you know you have some authority in the game. (understanding and ability to help yourself).

Good luck in the process
of understanding and helping yourself. - omoikane
