Is adderall supposed to make you energetic or relaxed?

Question 1
Is adderall supposed to make you energetic or relaxed?...  I I have ADHD and I know adderall is supposed to make you energetic and relaxed but I feel like its been making me feel more relaxed and a bit sleepy. Why isn't it giving me that energetic feeling like its supposed to?

Answers
1)   If you have adhd it relaxes you but if you are normal it does the opposite. - Mario

2)   I think it has a lot to do with your brain chemistry. I get super-focused to the point of tunnel vision but I don't get either energetic or relaxed mildly tense maybe, and I lose my appetite. - KoreyAusTex

3)   there are 2 brands of adderol, manufacturers, i think one is called Barr or something like that, one of them does not work for some people the other one does. I think the one brand doesn't get digested till it gets in your lower intestine and that's too late. Maybe try crushing it and putting it in a drink, might help. Try the other brand, insist your pharmacy get it for you, or try a differen't phamacy that will get you the one from the other manufacturer that you are not getting. It should wake you up and you start doing things. - Kathy Miller

4)   You may have an adverse reaction. Which is typical in alot of meds. But considering it a methamphetamine im not sure.....I know a friend that has been diagnosed AdHd all his life but everything makes him even more chatty and hyper. Yet with any meds he is lacking attention and his synapses in his brain arent firing right. I personally think meth of any sorts isnt the answer.

But you dont want to hear that. It seems like to me you havent been prescribed this medication and have been given it by friends. Which is understandable, but if you want to help your adhd you need to see a doctor. there are free doctors out there who can help you for cheap ( personal experience). It may be in fact that you dont have adhd (over diagnosed) but something close to it. Which another med may do the trick. Experimenting through a psychiatrist may help. I went through a few meds before I realized none helped and I honestlyu didnt need any.

My sister is "bi polar" and went through alot of troubling meds before she founf the right one. DOnt let anyone tell you what the right medication is until you know yourself.

As far as I can tell you need somethng different..or maybe even a higher med....i ahet to say that because those meds are highly addictive. there is free help. - simmadownnow

5)   Adderall can have different effects on individual people, that's why there are things like XR, XL, and multiple strengths. Are you taking it at the same time everyday with breakfast or some sort of food? If so have you spoken with your doctor about its opposite effects? If doc believes that it should be helping speak with your local pharmacists, that's what we're there for and there might be a different type of manufacture for you to try. Or just maybe over all Adderall isn't the correct ADHD medication for you. You never know until you start asking! - summerkissedgirl

People spend $20 billion per year on vitamins and supplements.  According to Everyday Health, here's an article that will tell you why . . . those PRODUCTS by any other name do NOT WORK.  It is false advertisements.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn’t have to approve supplements — no agency in the United States does. So it’s up to consumers to bring health concerns to light. “It’s important to understand the difference between over-the-counter medications and dietary supplements,” say Pieter Cohen, MD, an internist at Cambridge Health Alliance and instructor at Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, Mass. The FDA gets involved only after the fact, if the supplement later appears to be causing harm. By that time, the supplement may already have harmed many consumers who used it. “The burden of proof is on the FDA to determine [a supplement] is dangerous and remove it from the market,” Cohen says. Consumer complaints are the primary trigger for investigations. One recent investigation of the dietary weight-loss supplement ephedra resulted in it being banned for sale in the United States.
China, which has repeatedly been caught exporting contaminated products, is a major supplier of raw supplement ingredients. The FDA has yet to inspect a single factory there.

We have identified a dozen supplement ingredients that we think consumers should avoid because of health risks, including cardiovascular, liver, and kidney problems. We found products with those ingredients readily available in store.

Because of inadequate quality control and inspection, supplements contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, or prescription drugs have been sold to unsuspecting consumers. And FDA rules covering manufacturing quality don’t apply to the companies that supply herbs, vitamins, and other raw ingredients.
Beginning in February 2008, he experienced one symptom after another: diarrhea, joint pain, hair loss, lung problems, and fingernails and toenails that fell off.

Question 4
Have you ever taken melatonin for sleep and does it help?...

Answers
1)   Yes. - destroyingVA

2)   My mother suffers from bouts of insomnia, so I bought her some melatonin and she told me it works great for her! It's not 100% for everyone though. There is also valerian that you can try as an alternative. Best of luck! - Wise Libra

3)   Melatonin is a natural drug because it is made from vitamins that have been shown help with sleep. I personally have taken it and it has personally helped me. Its a less dangerous medicine to take because it doesn't have the risk of addiction as compared to something behind the counter like Ambien or Lunesta. - summerkissedgirl

4)   I use it from time to time and it is okay.. I have to lay down and hopefully fall asleep within the first hour after taking it though because it seems to be the strongest then and kinda wear off soon after. It depends on you though. I have a high tolerance to things and serious sleep problems. It should work fine if you don't have an actual sleeping disorder. - chicka

Question 5
What are your opinions on LSD? Should it be legal?...  I personally think that the world would be a better place if everyone tried it atleast once in their life. I believe it makes a person a little more in tune and open minded. Unfortunately Timothy Leary had to go and ruin for us, using it as a "rebel drug".. Now it's impossible to obtain the ingredients necissary to produce it unless you're a hand full of people working for the government. Just curious what people really think about it...

Answers
1)   i agree. i always suggested the president should dose...they might really know what is going on and what to do about it! i miss those days - alaire

2)   I believe that LSD should remain illegal. It has so many risk factors for both the user and anyone the user comes in contact with. While LSD may be fun for the user it is not for the person driving down the road going the opposite way. There's a reason why we have to make things illegal and make them hard to find and usually that's because they're abused and taken for granted the incorrect way. - summerkissedgirl

3)   You should use tramadol, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://canmdh15.notlong.com/AAzpGNn - Sharie Schwing
