What would be some must have supplements/vitamins for boosting energy levels?

Question 1
What would be some must have supplements/vitamins for boosting energy levels?...  Soon I'll be starting uni and will have 5.30 am rises and know I'll run out of energy pretty fast (I do already and I have a very relaxed lifestyle at present) So, I'm looking to get some stuff that'll help - specifically with energy but without any nasty side effects. Recently I got a few bottles of caffeine tablets but only after I'd gotten them did I start thinking that they may not be the best thing to take. Thanks.
I've been thinking Siberian Gingseng, Olive Leaf, Gotu Kola, Chlorophyll?

Answers
1)   If you have a proper diet you will have no need for "must have" supplements. - rod85

2)   You're right to think that caffeine isn't a good idea. The best idea for boosting energy levels is sleep. Get into a healthy sleep habit and you'll boost your energy levels in a "safe and all natural" way. A healthy balanced diet and taking a basic multivitamin once daily would supply your body with all it needs.

Sorry, there is no magic cure. - Matthew

3)   Try CHIA seeds (from your local healthfood store (seeds should be from Mexico, I tried seeds from Australia with no leath benefits), they are 100% natural. I take a whole tablespoon everyday, they are good for, weight loss, good source of fibre, gives you HEAPS of energy, makes you look & feel younger, great for depressiion and a great source of Omega 3 & Omega 6, good also for memory. All the best. As Chia seeds are natural the only side effect is that your happy, and full of energy, when no-one else is. - Tracey Macdonald

4)   drink more water ~ you'd be amazed at how being just a lil dehydrated can leave you fatigued and exhausted;
drink a lot less alcohol, caffeine and soda (if you drink any) ~ they all dehydrate you terribly.. particularly alcohol and sodas ... and age you before your time;
eat more fresh whole foods like green vegies, salads,fresh fruits, lean meats and fishes, wholegrains and cereals like brown rice and wholemeal bread and rolled oats and cut right back on fake junky foods;
drink green vegie juices if you can't stomach eating greens and salads.... cut the base and leaves off a celery and juice it up with a freshly peeled lime lemon or apple (depending on your taste)... quick, cheap and easy to assimilate ..... better than chowing down on loads of vegies and greens if you don't really like them;
get at least 8 hours of sleep a night ~ astounding the difference just doing that will make.

supplements, pills, vitamins are a veritable minefield of misinformation and random luck as to whether you actually get something that will benefit your system .... you never really will know what preservatives, flavorings, colorings and other nasty chemicals they've used to "preserve and prolong shelf life" of the product ...... save your cash and splash it on something that will actually put a smile on your dial like a monthly massage ......;0)

have a good one hey.

bless

5)   Guarana - As a dietary supplement, guarana is an effective energy booster:[1] it contains about twice the caffeine found in coffee beans (about 2–4.5% caffeine in guarana seeds compared to 1–2% for coffee beans).[2]

It's sold in SOBE products, pill form and gum - sauve4te

6)   I drink a bottle of water before my feet hit the ground in the morn, I make sure I have enough water & stop drinking when it gets later in the eve so I don't have to wake up to pee. So I also will have a yogurt as a snack in the eve. to keep my blood sugar steady through the night & the calcium helps you feel really relaxed.

7)   Be sure to eat healthy foods. Poor nutrition leaves you feeling run-down, even when you feel that you are getting plenty to eat. You need carbohydrates for energy, but in order to get the highest nutritional value, you should look for the least-processed and highest fiber carbs whenever possible. Foods with a high protein content are also very important to help keep you going throughout the day.
