1)   usually theres a spray at your local drugstore and it numbs like crazy this should help a lot trust me its worth the 2$ - fred

2)   avoid milk

suck on lollipops or hard candy

drink hot water

inhale steam

try not to speak - Brie

3)   You should be resting as much as possible today, to help your body fight it.

You should drink some tea, with honey and lemon, if you don't like the taste of honey and lemon you can just have plain tea. Just make sure that it's hot. You should drink around 4 cups of tea.

Throat lozenges: the strong ones, not the sweet ones that taste nice. I don't know what country you're in, but in Australia we have these things called "vicks vapour drops" and they work pretty well. But anything with menthol should be good.

You can go to the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist for some codral cold and flu, or any other tablets which supposedly help you heal faster.

Good luck and Happy Birthday! - Serena.

4)   Gargle with lukewarm salt water three times a day. Be careful not to swallow any. Do this for about a week to make sure you kill the infection completely.

This kills the bacteria causing your sore throat through a process called plasmolysis, which drives the water out of the bacteria cells, killing them. - Rudie Can't Fail

5)   You answered you own question. "It takes time to cure." Time is the only thing that will cure a sore throat, assuming it's just a cold.

Drink as much milk as you want. It doesn't increase mucous production(myth).

To alleviate symptoms, warm liquids and hard candies/lozenges can help. Take some acetaminophen, if you're not opposed to it and get some rest.

Gargling with salt water may help, but not for the reasons he suggests. - Nate

6)   Use the throat spray for immediate relief then use tylenol or ibuprofen for longer relief. Also, drink plenty of water and use some honey. - JEREMY S

Question 3
Do herbs really work?...  Do they really work or is it just a bunch of bs

Answers
1)   It's not a black or white question. Like most things, it's a spectrum. Some herbs are proven to "work." for specific conditions. Some have been proven not to work, while others remain untested. The problem is, herbs can be marketed as supplements with vague descriptions such as "boosts immunity, reduces stress, restores balance etc.." You have to look at specific studies on a herb to see if it has any efficacy. Not all studies are created equal, so look at all of them and decide for yourself. If you're not up to interpreting studies, ask a credible health professional about it. - Nate

2)   HERBS REALLY DO WORK!
HERBS REALLY DO WORK!
HERBS REALLY DO WORK!
HERBS REALLY DO WORK!
HERBS REALLY DO WORK! - DA WINNER

3)   Quite a few people are trying to answer that question -- including the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) -- a government agency set to up do clinical studies with herbs.

If you check the NCCAM site you can click on an herb and see what proof there is so far for each herb listed...

http://nccam.nih.gov/health/herbsataglance.htm

There are plenty of herbs that have been proven to work in clinical trials, plenty that the answer is iffy and quite a few where the answer is no. - Niki P

4)   Because we are all different, I would say that herbs work for some people. Many herbs work for me, but there are some that don't. I have been reading about our metabolisms having a great deal to do with whether they work for us or not. It is a complicated subject. But, if you ever suffer with allergies like I have and decide to take some nettle herb and finds that it clears up the itching and tearing eyes and the sneezing, then you will believe in them too. - oldknowitall

5)   Some do. It depends on what you're using them for. - death8998

6)   Urmama,

Without a doubt they work as well as chemical drugs, or better. Built my life around this profession which I believe in. For most part herbs are considered preventive medicine. Some herbs have strong presence when taken, and some accumulate over time in your body defending you from within. Also herbs are less abrasive less intrusive compared to chemical drugs. Most herbs have side effects, but not serious. They do clash with drugs, making drugs less effective, and can cause issues! Its important to educate yourself. USA drug companies hold a monopoly over herbs they realize that this is a threat to their business, suppression is what they do..
In most European Countries herbs are embraced by a ton ! Us pharmacies have 20 isles of drugs, and a small area to alternatives. In Germany it is the opposite...
Hope I was able to clarify your question
Europeans are mastered of discovery... - Dr. Robert Lubocki

Question 4
What brand of computer is best to get?...  all i want is a computer for surfing the web and windows live messenger.
ops wrong section :(

Answers
1)   Mac - Greg

2)   Commodore, personal opinion though - Dustin b

3)   Get a net book not a computer net books are cheaper and are perfect for that sort of thing

Regards
The flying space rat - Steve Nickson

4)   Buy a pc, there the best :) - Happy Watermelon

5)   A laptop, Dell would be good if that's all you want to do as they are probably the best running at the lowest price. If you want to play games consider a larger memory or RAM. Saving video, photos or music will eat up your memory too so getting an external hard drive will also back up your things incase of a crash or attack.
The best computers are apple brand as most of they're component parts are made by apple and engineered to work in harmony specifically for each system (Imagine the inner workings of a clock). The graphics and video quality is some of the best out there! Although not all apple computers run windows. Where as other computers use component parts from far more different softwear companies so it tends to work slower and be more temperamental. Its down to money for the most part. Best speak to an expert you have PC world near you or somewhere like that? If not you can ring experts or tech heads in your country. There are usually many different services to call. They may be more impartial as they aren't selling you anything like in an actual computer store. look in the phone book or online. - Latentenvironmentalist

6)   If thats all you want, your best bet is probably to go to a computer repair place and see what they have for sale thats used and had the memory wiped....

You can usually get a desktop for a hundred to two and a laptop in pretty good shape for 200 or so...that sort of thing will be more than enough to handle chatting and surfing as long as you don't run visual heavy games - Tink

Question 5
Any tips for fasting?...  I'm trying a fast for the first time and I was wondering if anyone who's done one has any advice or comments about it.
I should also add that I'm fasting on jus water and I've done done small fasts before, the longest being three days.

Answers
1)   How long are you going for? I know that after the first 24 full hours I always get sick. I vomit up stomach acid. After that though pains of hunger dissipate and I can go for days without food. You have to find where your "hump" is, once you make it past the hump your good.
Are you going to drink anything? Water at least? You kinda have to drink at least water. I would recommend drinking a lot of water the first day, then cut it down accordingly, but don't get dehydrated. Also are you on brake from work or school? If not you may want to wait till you are, most people do get sick at some point. Feelings of tiredness and nausea are common. If you need any more info let me know. - LD

2)   I have been fasting for a long time.whenever you start fasting start with water fasting, it means that you only drink water and not eat any food. alternatively you can drink milk or fruit juices.NEVER START TOTAL FASTING. body should be habituated to remain unenergised.
do not over do fasting.
start with one day a month and go ahead slowly. - DA WINNER

3)   I'd question why you want to go on a fast. If it's to remove toxins, don't bother. You're body doesn't need any help removing toxins. If it's to lose weight, don't bother. You'll gain it all back after it's over, plus a little extra. If it's for religious reasons, don't b...well, whatever.

They're also bad for you.

Go see a doctor before you do it, he'll tell you the precautions you need to take. - Nate

4)   Not fast?

depriving yourself of food can't be healthy, don't do it. - gman
