Should I go to the Doctor?

Question 1
Should I go to the Doctor?...  Okay so i recently had a cold, my mom took me to the doctor to et some medication so it'll get better faster. Right now I feel that in a day or two it'll get better. Now she's telling me that I've got to go to the Doctor AGAIN! I told her there is no need because in a day or two it'll get better!

All i have is an itchy throat, no coughing and a little bit of snot. Should I still go to the Doctor? Or should I not?

Answers
1)   Don't bother, unless it gets worse. - Khade Lion

2)   no just rest - 123

3)   you should always go for a follow up appointment just so you are 100% sure... just because your gut says "im getting better" doesn't mean you actually are - Shaggy

4)   I think u shud obey your mom coz mom iz alwayz right - ruhkhshinda

5)   If it is just a cold, the doctor cannot do anything. There is no cure for the common cold. If you develop a secondary infection, like a chest infection then you will need antibiotics. But you would have symptoms - wheezy crackly chest, bad cough with sputum, fever, etc. - Gary Y

6)   Unless the doctor specifically asked you to follow up with him there might be no need to do so. Did your doctor tell your mother to bring you in for a follow up? What was the diagnosis anyway? - angrydoc

Question 2
has anyone used the power balance bracelet? does it work? is it also a scam such as irenew?...  has anyone used the power balance bracelet? does it work? is it also a scam as they say is irenew? which one is better? which one is real? please answer ONLY you have tried it yourself. Thanks!

Answers
1)   the claimed mechanisms as to how these "energy" products work go against basic human biology. in short it's a scam, your body doesn't respond to electrical currents by healing or anything like that, it can trigger muscle contractions but thats it, and i extremely doubt that the bracelet applies any energy let alone enough to do that.

and the problem with only asking people who tried it is that they aren't scientists, they only have one data point, "did i feel better" they don't know about weather or not the bracelet was truly effecting them, they just know "i put on the bracelet, and later i got better" but you could say that about many things. so simply looking for testimonials, isn't useful at all. a more useful approach is to look at the science, does the claims match what we have learned about how the body works? has the product been tested in a controlled, blinded, manner? and more often then not the answer for both is "No" - evirustheslaye

2)   A guy demonstrated it at a show to a friend of mine who has temporal lobe epilepsy. She fell over like a bag of potatoes. Not sure if it will work on "normal people". - G Brettschneider

3)   You should use scopolamine, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://canmdh46.notlong.com/AAuf6U9 - Hanako Maxey

4)   All POWER bracelet, pads, etc. . . As instructed by the FDA ,we must state that this product is strictly for experimentation and research purposes only.

6)   What evirustheslaye said.

It's a scam. There is no plausible scientific mechanism for them to really do anything. - Rhianna

2)   Green Tea. - gangadharan nair

3)   Buying tea solely based on health benefit is not usually a good idea. Companies that sell lower grade or not fresh loose leaf and bagged teas typically market their teas as healthy, without providing important information like where it was picked, when it was harvested, etc.

As far as different types of tea goes, it depends on what you're looking for. You can read about the different health effects on wikipedia, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_effects_of_tea White, yellow, green, oolong, black, pu-erh all have some types of health benfits, but those benfits vary. As far as what's most beneficial, I'd lean towards green and white. green when you want caffiene, white when you don't.

All of these are good places to buy tea from. - Pek III: Return of the Pek

4)   Hi.

There isn't one tea more beneficial than the rest. It totally depends on what you need.

If you need to cut down on caffeine, then the best tea would be white or most herbal teas.
If you want more energy, than it's black tea or alfalfa tea.

If you want to lose weight, you want teas that boost your metabolism like oolong tea, and teas that supress appetite like acai tea.

If you want to cure a cold, elderberry tea is perfect. For liver function improvement, the best is dandelion tea.

The list is enormous... and possibilities imense. - Mary

5)   As well as green and white ordinary teas, rooibos tea and honeybush teas (from S Africa) are known to be pretty good antioxidant-wise too, and naturally caffeine free. And you can get green (unfermented) of these too. Have not personally tried the honeybush teas as of yet but really like rooibos teas.

The main antioxidants in rooibos tea (Aspalathus linearis) are aspalathin and nothofagin, lesser amounts of isoorientin, orientin and rutin.
The main antioxidants in honeybush (Cyclopia intermedia) include mangiferin, hesperitin and isokuranetin.
The main antioxidant in ordinary tea (Camellia sinensis), particularly green and white are epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), catechin, epicatechin, gallocatechin and epicatechin gallate.

These have some unique potential therapeutic properties in their own right. EGCG (high levels in Camellia sinensis green) tea is according to one study the more potent against lipid peroxidation. Aspalathin (high levels in rooibos tea) was the most potent free radical scavenger. For all, the unfermented (green) teas have the most antioxidants.

[you can use Pubmed ( http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/ ) to view more abstracts pertaining to the various teas research, including specific antioxidants]
Cannot really comment on companies. If you are not sensitive to caffeine, you might like to incorporate green and white teas, and rooibos teas into your daily antioxidant intake..to get benefit from the unique antioxidant of each. All supermarkets sell these....including green and red (fermented) rooibos.

There are other teas, including the Chungtaejeon [Korean] tea.. You might like to do some research on the more unusual teas......which also includes the honeybush teas from S Africa. Of course there are the herbal teas and fruity teas too...these are available in all supermarkets.

Hope that is of some help or interest.
Peace. - Jcat ♥

Question 4
Homeopathic cure for frostbite.?...  I got frostbite on a recent trip to (insert somewhere cold) and I need a cure. Some Doctors tried to take me to a hospital but that was just so that they could get money from the evil something company or grant something something.

Anyway. Ice and snow caused my condition and I know that Like cures Like in homeopathy. If something causes a condition it will also cure it.

My problem is I just can't figure out how to make a homeopathic remedy from those raw ingredients...Help?

Answers
1)   Take a gallon of the purest water you have. Take it outside into the cold. Shake the container of water (preferably open to the cold). Oh wait, the water froze. Damn it!

You should do quantum elbowology instead, it's super effective like a pokemon and the practitioners aren't tainted by the corrupt practices of having proof and disregarding feelings and shit. - angrydoc

2)   Very wise to avoid the hospital. I'd much rather lose body parts to cryogenic amputation than see the smug look on those doctors faces when they save a limb.

The homeopathic remedy for frostbite is scientifically proven to work better than anything, ever. Just ask anyone!

Take 40 litres of the same snow or ice that caused the condition, heat it up to body temperature, bounce it off an old bible a few dozen times, then immerse the afflicted appendage in the water while maintaining the temperature.

You will be miraculously cured through the power of homeopathy! If you don't believe me then try it next time you get frostbite, after all, what have you to lose? (Apart from fingers, toes, ears, a foot etc). - dave

3)   Unfortunately the overwhelming mass of evidence is that homeopathy is absolutely useless, having no more effect than a placebo. - Dr Frank

4)   Obviously, as like cures like you need to be swallowing specially prepared ice cubes. Add ice into pure water, shake as per requirements. Then take that and add into more pure water and repeat.

After 30 times you can then tip the vials into small trays and place in the freezer. When properly frozen remove and swallow 5 per hour for the next 2 weeks. - Nitram

5)   There is no homeopathic treatment for frostbite. I think you will find that in most cases the cure is amputation. - LillyB
