Natural remedies for anxiety and depression?

Natural remedies for anxiety and depression?...  I diet, I run, I tried yoga but can no longer continue with it, i see a therapist, i journal sometimes, i try to talk things out.. i am worried constantly and have negative thoguhts, visualize bad things etc worry constantly

I guess it's time to self medicate with herbs as nothing is working

what are best remedies for anxiety/depression?

Is 5htp safe? will it take care of both issues? thanks

Answers
1)   I found a hobby and clean to help my anxiety.
Stay away from sugar, coffee and caffeine it makes it worse.
Get a pet
I like Chamomile tea it makes me calm, but I drink in once in a while. - Louis D.

2)   st. johns wart, magnesium, calcium. - -=Seta San=-

3)   5HTP is natural and safe. You can buy it at health food stores. It's basically a more natural form of Prozac.

Have you ever thought you may be sensitive to something you're eating as well and it could be dragging you down? Get a food allergy screening done as well as an environmental one and see what you find out. - pixiedustplease

4)   How old are you?

Don’t use 5-HTP until more is known. 5-HTP might be UNSAFE. Some people who have taken it have come down with eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome (EMS), a serious condition involving extreme muscle tenderness (myalgia) and blood abnormalities (eosinophilia). Some people think the EMS might be caused by an accidental ingredient (contaminant) in some 5-HTP products. But there is not enough scientific evidence to know if EMS is caused by 5-HTP, a contaminant, or some other factor. Until more is known, avoid taking 5-HTP.

If you live in a medical marijuana state I would pursue this avenue. It is the only natural herb with no overdose, no withdraw and no death associated to it. Plus it helps with anxiety and depression. However, whether your state is a med marijuana state or not, I would go see a doctor. Sounds like with all the right things your doing it may warrant a prescription anti-anxiety, anti depressant medication. I know, it sucks. - sauve4te

5)   You should use prozac, it is the best about it you can get information from here http://mdcan72.notlong.com/3AADPBd - Baylee Ledesma

6)   Kava Kava, St Johns Wort, Melatonin are all good for these issues - serialmom12

7)   Don't use medical marijuana, it can exacerbate anxiety and depression. Do stay away from sugar, keep a food journal. Notice what you eat and how you feel 30 to 60 minutes after you eat. Drink lots of water, eat fresh fruits and veggies.

For depression, St John's wort can take the edge off and valerian is a good tonic herb for anxiety, Kava Kava is good for occasional, short term use for anxiety.

You may like to find a hooper in your area and get a hand made hula hoop the appropriate size for an adult, the kids' toy hoops won't work. Find a hooper or hoop teacher to help you get started hooping. It sounds silly but many many people are finding that hooping helps their depression. Partly because of the endorphins of exercise, partly because the motion and the weight of the proper size hoop around your body can be very comforting. Also the hoop massages the body improving the function of the digestive organs and the lymph system, helping to relieve the body of toxins. Then there is the pure joy and playfulness of it. An average adult sized hoop costs about $45. and will last you a really long time. - Michelle

8)   There are several herbs that seem to be particularly effective for treating depression. They include St. John's Wort, Gingko Biloba, Kava Kava, Valerian Root, or 5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan.) There are a few things to note before trying any of these. Keep in mind that if you do decide to try one of these herbs for depression you may react differently than someone else who has tried the same herb. In other words, what may work for one, might not work for another. It may take some trial and error before you find one that works for you. It is also important to realize that too much of anything is not a good thing. You can overdose on herbal remedies. Also, it is very important to consult your physician before you try any type of new medicinal treatment, natural or otherwise, because you never know how it may interact with other medications that you might be taking.

Melatonin - a member of the serotonin family (the chemical in your brain that makes you feel happy) is available in your vitamin section, some say melatonin can help with depression - I've even had my doctor suggest it to me when I asked about alternatives.

Question 2
Which is better... Adderall or Chewing Tobacco?...  I am a college student with high-blood-pressure. I need Adderall to focus when I study. Recently I have been using Chewing Tobacco because It also seems to give me a little extra focus. I know both are addicting, Just wondering if chewing is a healthier alternative for me (with my high blood pressure) to Adderall when I only need to focus for a few hours.

Answers
1)   well adderall is specifically for focus. chewing tobacco is not only really really gross, its bad for your health. - Emma

2)   Have you tried caffeine? Its not deadly like amphetamines and tobacco can be.

Adderall is going to be more effective because the effects last longer. As for your blood pressure, i would ask the doctor prescribing you the medication. - HELP ME

3)   Neither, quit and you'll lose the high blood pressure and save yourself the money for the Oral Cancer treatment. - Misorlou

4)   Chewing will rot your teeth out. I have no idea what Adderall will do. - pokerjoev

5)   Caffeine is well known for improving concentration. That's why Red Bull and Monster are doing so well. - take it or leave it

6)   Take Apple Cider Vinegar (organic, raw, unfiltered ("with the mother")) in the morning and at night to cure your blood pressure problem. It should only take 3 days to a week.

Also, my dad's been dipping for around 20 years and his teeth and gums look great. Just get your diet straight and keep chewing your tobacco, friend! - ThinkDamnit

7)   no adderall isn't bad for you at all people take it every day for decades. Chewing tobacco gives you gum disease. Your call - Mr. Artless

8)   Neither are healthy for you - Chew causes mouth cancer, and no woman will ever want to kiss you, and abusing a drug that is not prescribed for you is DEFINITELY not good. Everyone's body reacts to things differently.

There have been reports of sudden death in children and adults with heart problems who were taking normal doses of Adderall. If you or your child has heart problems, discuss whether Adderall is appropriate in your situation. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you or your child develops any chest tightness, chest pain, shortness of breath, or fainting.

Adderall can cause an increase in blood pressure and heart rate. In most cases, the increase is small and does not cause problems. However, there is a higher risk for an increase in blood pressure and heart rate for people who already have high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, certain irregular heart rhythms (arrhythmias), or who have recently had a heart attack. - [ ★♏ . Question 3
Can I get my kids into public school next year without any Vaccinations?...  My wife and kids and I are an organic toxin-free naturopathic family. We are against anything processed, artificial, and unnatural, and do not care for conventional medicine. We only eat high quality all natural foods and herbs, and don’t use any body products or cleaners with chemicals/toxins, and we don’t believe in prescription drugs or vaccines. We are considering putting our 4-year-old twins in public school next year. Can I simply get my kids into public school without any vaccinations by saying it goes against our beliefs?
(My wife and kids are extremely healthy and have never been sick once and have never had a need for conventional medicine so please don’t diss my beliefs, I know what I'm doing)

Answers
1)   I honestly don't think they will let you. A lot of schools are very strict when it comes to the kids and having their shots. I would have to show my shot record every year to the school and if I didn't have one they would make me get it or I would be kicked out of the school. I remember when I lived in NY they gave kids a shot inside the school. Good luck though! - Sky

2)   Yes, there is a way, and I'll tell you what it's called once my mother replies to a text I sent her. (I don't know the name of the form or whatever.)

Also, congratulations on your family's health! Most families don't do enough when it comes to health, and the children grow up ignorant of what real health actually is. So it's nice to hear someone's doing the right thing.

Edit coming once I get the name of the form.

EDIT: Alright, well, she doesn't remember the "name" of the document, but it doesn't matter according to her. Basically, depending on the state/country you live in, you can simply request an opt-out form from the school nurse. If the nurse doesn't have any (which would make sense, seeing as how schools want your children to be experimented on), you can get one of your children in to see a doctor at a clinic and probably pick up 2 or 3 forms for the family. It'll be either a religious exemption form or a general exemption form, but both are fine. Keep in mind that a legal exemption form (not "religious" or for "religious reasons") will be used against you in court should one of your unvaccinated children become very ill with whatever the vaccine supposedly tried to prevent.

In short, school nurses or clinic doctors should have the documents. If they don't, just google "vaccination exemption form" and send it to wherever you're expected to. Make sure to make a copy of the form if you can.

Hope this answer helped! - ThinkDamnit

3)   yes, you just sign a waiver, easy. - al b

4)   Not dissing you or saying you don't know what you're doing but you realize that if you put your kids in the public school system they are going to get sick a lot right? They could end up missing a lot of school due to being sick. Most schools have strict rules about when a child has to leave school and allowed to return due to illness. However, if you do it now while they are four it will build up their immunities and hopefully keep them from getting sick when they are older and school matters more. I don't know what state you're in but in our state immunization records are required to register a child for school. However, that is from grades kindergarten up, and not for four year olds. - sauve4te

5)   I like you.

First, YES. You can get your kids into public school without Vaccinations. I did.

You can get a religious exemption from the health department (they're not allowed to ask you what religion you are.) You just say it's against your religion.

Another way is to find a DAN! doctor or your own homeopathic doctor, and have them sign the exemption. This is the route I took.

Good luck! - pixiedustplease

6)   they are required to have exemption forms. don't take "no" for an answer, as some will falsely tell you there are no exemptions. the main reason they have them is not for your protection, but theirs. if they were mandatory and people were harmed, they could sue their pants off. - Mr E

7)   I sincerely hope that all the kids in that school have had their vaccines so that the herd immunity is strong there.

Not vaccinating your kids is like letting them outside in the winter without any clothes on.

Good luck. - angrydoc

Question 5
"trip" like side effects after smoking pot?...  I have smoked weed plenty of times before and gotten really stoned, and everytime it seemed like I was having a normal high.

Last weekend I went up to a college to visit some friends(at a slightly higher altitude) and we smoked 2 bowls. I knew after a little bit that I was pretty baked and it was gonna be a challenge to get up and walk back to the dorms, but then once I got it felt like I twitching all over my body constantly, and then my vision started to get really disoriented, it wasn't like hallucinations it was just like everything would start to swirl if I started at it for a couple seconds, my hearing also started to get messed up, just the volume of things wasn't right. When I asked my friend if I was twitching he said I wasn't but I would have bet on my life that I was.... so, what the heck happened to me? why did all these crazy side effects just randomly occur?

Oh yea, I smoked again that night(probably not smart) and the same exact thing happened, but it was my weed, which I had smoked before, and that never happened. Is it like an intolerance to cannabis? I don't understand whats going on....

Answers
1)   i think you should stop smoking marijuana, it destroys your brain cells just like any other drug... - Guy

2)   it sounds like your friends had pot that was laced with some drug and when you smoked your own weed later you still had some of the lace in your blood stream. that is what is wrong with smoking, you don't know if there is lace until you smoke it. - John Whittington

3)   It probably was laced. Its possible its a bad reaction. I'm sure the high altitude didn't help any. Be careful or you're going to get hurt. - Donna

4)   It could have been laced.
You might have been dehydrated, but every drug effects everyone's body differently - if you have a negative side effect, you should not smoke. - [ ★♏ . A I R ]

5)   Interesting... I used to smoke pot and get "twitching". At first it would just feel like my body was rocking back and forth, and then they got more severe, I would take a toke and my vision would go away, I would see things and I'd have a seizure. I found that I got less twitching if I didn't hold it in for as long, it may have been a lack of blood to the head. I'm not sure if my story at all relates but try to not hold it in as long just in case it's a head rush thing.

This might be completely off topic but I stopped eating gluten because I found out i'm gluten intolerant and I stopped having any twitching when I'm stoned. I think it may have had to do with circulation, because gluten causes epilepsy/seizures.. once again thsi could be wayy off topic but just my story - Irony
